About Us/Contact UsWelcome to Paper Confections ®Design, tastefully distinct notes, cards, and imprintable invites printed on 100% Cotton Crane and Co. ®stationery. Paper Confections Design represents the artwork of Rebecca Schreiber, a self-taught artist who creates her designs using the technique of paper quilting within a papercut. She returns to the field of graphic design after “majoring” in the sciences with a 20 year career in the neurosciences, and “minoring” in the arts as a fine arts intern specializing in 18 th and 19 th century American and European paintings and decorative arts. While many may view the careers as non-overlapping, Rebecca is quick to point out that there are many commonalities between the arts and sciences: the study of nature, a creative problem solving process, experimental design, exploratory technique, and the process of exhibition or presentation of the results, just to name a few! There is an “art to science” and for Rebecca, “a science to her art”. Many of her designs are inspired by early silhouette art, American Folk art and decorative colonial design. Add to that mix, a nature-loving husband and two adventuresome sons with a deep and earthy passion for small critters, and you will find her inspiration for all things related to nature. She lives in New England with her family where she creates her designs in a 1700's colonial with her constant companion “Sunday”, a shorthaired pointer, at her feet. Paper Confections Design is also proud to represent the artwork of a very talented artist, Ann Hritz. Ann has crafted folk art for over 30 years using various media and techniques, including clay, needlework, felting, folk art painting, and shell work. In addition, she has created handmade cards for over 20 years employing the technique of botanical collage. She creates her collages with botanicals she collects, carefully preserves and then arranges with striking papers and special treasures found near her New England home. Seashells, lobster tentacles, feathers, and even a bumble bee, are a just few examples of the “found gifts” incorporated into her collages. Her designs are greatly influenced by the changing New England seasons and its flora and fauna. Each image preserves precious, evanescent gifts of nature which would otherwise be lost. Ann views each piece as a miniature memory box meant to recall times past and adventures enjoyed with family and friends. While each artist works independently on their designs, there is a unifying visual chemistry in this distinct line of cards called Paper Confections. The designs are both simple and complex, inspired by a love of nature and all things handmade. We carry our respect for nature all the way to the point of printing at which point we have chosen to print our designs on eco-friendly 100% Cotton paper made by Crane & Co.® Crane stationery and Crane paper are long recognized as some of the finest paper produced in an eco-friendly fashion in the United States since 1801.
